Regular Opportunities

Volunteer at the Poly

The Poly is a live arts venue, arts cinema, galleries, community pottery and makers guild in a beautiful historic venue in the heart of Falmouth.

There are many different ways of getting involved from selling tickets on the box office, to serving drinks on our bar, or becoming a trustee.

Our volunteer shifts are flexible to suit you, and there's no minimum commitment - we hugely appreciate any time that you can give.

What's involved?

  • Box Office
As a front-of-house box office assistant you will be the face of The Poly, welcoming customers, selling tickets and answering the phone. Full training for this and all roles is provided and a member of staff is always there to help.
  • Falmouth History Archive
Interested in Falmouth's history? Then come and help our history group to preserve our archive and carry out research.
  • Fire Warden
As an usher and fire warden you will take tickets and help people find their seats in the auditorium. You will be fully trained on health and safety procedures in case of an emergency.
    Poly Guild
  • If you are interested in art and design you may enjoy helping serve customers in our Guild shop, which features work exclusively created by local artists or those who attended university in Cornwall.
    Bar
  • The Poly bar is a popular meeting place prior to the show and during the interval. Your role would be to make sure the bar is ready for service and then serve drinks to our customers.
  • Brochure Distribution
Help us to broaden our audience by distributing brochures and posters in your local area.

Why get involved?

The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society (The Poly) is based in an iconic listed building, and is dedicated to promoting engagement in the arts, sciences and Cornish history through film, live events, exhibitions, talks, our community pottery and workshops.
