Regular Help

Park Live volunteers sought

Parklive is a series of six free live music and performance events hosted by Falmouth/Penryn based community radio station  Source FM.. They are held in Kimberley Park on the last Sunday afternoon of each month from April to September and showcase the wide range of creative talent living in the Falmouth area. The remainder of this year's events will take place on July 28, August 25 and September 29.

The event is community centred and open to local families, residents and visitors to enjoy. The aim is to provide entertainment and activities for people of all ages, and for volunteers to learn new skills and make new friends by being part of the event team. Parklive provides a great opportunity for new and established local musicians to perform in a relaxed and fun festival atmosphere.

The team at Source FM are looking for volunteers to help with the setting up and dismantling of a stage and gazebos - tasks which normally take around 30 minutes before and after the shows.

What's involved?

The Park Live events get underway at 12 noon with the last musiciams taking to the stage at 4.45pm.

Help is needed to set up one stage and the merchandise gazebo. The stage setup involves loading the stage onto transport, and then unloading and setting it up. This usually takes two people between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.

A gazebo is then erected over the stage which takes four people around 15 minutes to do. The same also applies to setting up the merchandise gazebo which is done once the stage is in place This involves fetchiing the gazebo from the store and transporting it to its location (usually on a tractor) and then erecting it. This again takes four people about 15 minutes and could be the same people who set up the stage.

Finally, as far as the setting up is oncncerned, the backfrop needs to be installed on the main stage which takes two to three people 30 minutes to do.

At the end of the show, evenything is done in reverse as the backdrop, gazebos and stage are all taken down. Overall, a minimum of four able people are required to work together to sort this.

Away from the setting up and dismanting of the festival infrastructure, volunteers are also sought to help out during the performances. These two to four people would help out with stewarding  of the events and selling raffle tickets.
