Regular Help

Seal Trust Volunteers wanted

Week to 10 day old seal pup snoozing in the sunshine DSCN3312

Volunteers are needed across a number of different areas which depend on whether you want to be outdoors recording sightings or helping the office to keep our records in good order as part of our research element.

You could be involved with

  • distributing our signs and leaflets
  • supporting our campaigns to raise awareness about flying rings and how to watch seals safely
  • processing photos sent in by our surveyors
  • sending in sightings of seals
  • attending events to talk to the public about our vital work

If you email seals@cornwallsealgroup.co.uk, we'll send you more details.

What's involved?

This depends on how you want to volunteer with us.  We need people out and about communicating what we are up to and recording seal sightings.  We also need help in our office to sort through the sightings that are sent in to us and keeping our records up to date and accurate.  Once you get in touch, we can run through all the options.

Why get involved?

Seals face many ocean challenges, yet we all depend on them to balance our marine ecosystem. This is essential to make the oxygen we breathe. Seals are our globally rare wildlife tourist attraction, helping diversify coastal economic prosperity.

The Seal Research Trust (aka Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust) is a multi-award winning, evidence-based marine conservation charity. What we do really works. We support seal conservation groups across the UK, as well a large network of active citizen scientists across SW communities, who routinely survey seals on their local patch. This gives seals a voice and enables us to protect them and their ocean home.
