Soul Farm Mentors

Soul Farm is a market farm growing seasonal vegetables in Flushing.  Their ethos is around food justice and agroecological principles.  They are looking to expand the offer on site so that more people can benefit from locally-produced, environmentally sound food.

To help them move forward, they are looking for Mentors with the following skill sets

  • Human resources

    • This would be about advice on contracts, hours and job descriptions

    • Bringing your best practice to Soul Farm

    • Help with advertising roles

  • Management finances

    • Help managing cash flow from an advisory stand point

    • Analysis of data and money for efficiency, profitability and decision making

    • Although we would love help with the weekly cash flow management we see this as too much of a commitment

  • Training

    • How can you improve our intern training program

    • Lead on making sure objectives with training are met

  • Logistics

    • Report on our current logistics and advise

    • Wholesale movements of veg and greater efficiencies

    • Advice make deliveries smoother

  • Customer service

    • We would love someone that could spent an hour a week answering emails to customers through Ooooby

  • Infrastructure and builds

    • Can you build things, we need things built almost constantly

  • Planning applications

    • We are about to embark on a major planning permission project through our funding

What's involved?

Your valuable time commitment to enable the following;

  • Planning time to get your project area launched

  • Monthly meetings

  • Quarterly board meetings

  • Approx 7-8 hours between meetings to advance the company forward    

  • Help at events, approx 2-3 a year

Why get involved?

Soul Farm works on the principles of Community Supported Agriculture which aims to connect commuities with growers in Cornwall.  Community involvement is critical to the functioning of the farm and supports their aims for social and environmental justice.
