Volunteer marshals sought for Run Mawnan

The annual charity fundraising event Run Mawnan takes place on Sunday, September 20, in Mawnan Smith and its organisers Falmouth Rotary Club are appealing for volunteer marshals to come forward to help ensure the event runs without a hitch.

What's involved?

Run Mawnan comprises a one mile children's fun run and 5K and 10K road races, with the action getting underway at 10am. In order to safeguard and guide the runners, organisers are appeaing volunteer static marshals and cycle marshals to give up their time to help out.

The static marshals will be at various locations around the course while the cycle marshals will patrol sections of the course. The timeframe involved for the volunteers will be from 9.30am until around 11am.

Why get involved?

Falmouth Rotary Club have been organising Run Mawnan since 2012, raising money for Rotary charities and also the local community of Mawnan Smith. It is one of the Club's main fundraising events of the year and they always aim to distribute half of the proceeds to village organisations.

Last year's event attracted 241 runners of all ages who gathered at Carwinion Playing Field to take part in the races on three different routes through the village and no less than seven existing records were broken.
