Purpose of the role: Help bring the library to people who are unable to visit in person. As a Home Library Service Volunteer, you will support customers in the community by delivering library materials and providing a friendly, regular point of contact.
What's involved?
Key activities
- Select, issue, and deliver books, audiobooks, and other library materials to customers in their homes, sheltered housing, or care homes.
- Match reading materials to customers' interests and requests.
- Arrange and confirm delivery visits with customers.
- Return borrowed items to the library and provide fresh selections.
- Build positive relationships through friendly conversation and discussions about reading interests.
- Monitor customers' wellbeing during visits and raise any concerns with library staff when appropriate.
